I worked with playwright and actor Dina Leander on her production ‘Mother of Kamal’. Set in 1948 Baghdad, the story follows a Jewish mother, Um-Kamal, whose sons are arrested by the feared Secret Police — one is imprisoned, the other unexpectedly released. I photographed the production process, and dress rehearsal. It was a privilege to watch the piece unfold from script to stage and to capture the emotion and intensity of the story through imagery.
