I’ve covered events of every shape and size — from Pride in London to Remembrance Sunday, from street carnivals and jubilees to royal and prime ministerial visits. Most of this work is commissioned editorially by local or regional press, so I approach it with a strong sense of narrative.

What would make a full, varied visual story? What needs to be in the frame to capture not just what happened, but how it felt? That means having a mental catalogue of the kinds of images that bring an event to life: the wide scenes, the small moments, the energy, the interactions.

You have to bounce along with the rhythm of the day — up close and in the thick of it one minute, then stepping back for context the next. It’s physical, fast, and often full-on, but I thrive on that energy. For me, great event coverage means being present and responsive, and knowing how to build a strong, usable set of images.
